About Double Dutch Farms, Inc.
Double Dutch Farms, Inc. began in 1990, when Dave and Sylvia DeGroot
migrated from California to the Hood River Valley in Oregon to raise
apples and pears. We are both first generation Americans, born to
parents who immigrated from the Netherlands in 1950. Hence the name of
our farm became Double Dutch.
We started our alpaca ranch in 1994 with the purchase of 25 Suri
Alpacas. Two years later, we sold our orchard to devote all of our time
to our herd of 60 alpacas which also included Huacayas at that time.
Through the years we have had up to 150 alpacas residing at Double Dutch
Farms. After the children were grown, Dave and Sylvia decided they
could downsize their herd and now have about 40 Suri Alpacas. We are raising Suri's for luster and fineness and our suri's just shine!!!
We have 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
Mike and Sharol DeGroot, daughter, Karlee--Jeff and Becky DeGroot, son, Tyler, and
daughter, Katelyn--Matt DeGroot, single and looking, and Kathleen and
husband Dan Murphy.
Double Dutch Farms is a full service alpaca Ranch. We offer Suri
Alpacas for sale, stud service and consultations by appointment. Dave is also a certified livestock appraiser specializing in alpaca appraisals.
